The Depression formed over South-East Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea is moving north-northeastwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar islands. It is likely to intensify into a deep depression in the next 12 hrs and transform into a storm cyclone by today evening. Thereafter, it is likely to reach north-east of Bangladesh and North Myanmar coast tomorrow. As an effect, dense clouds and moderate rainfall observed in Port Blair
yesterday.
Taking precautionary measures, all tourism activities in Andaman and Nicobar islands remain suspended till tomorrow. All schools will remain closed today. Fore Shore sector shipping services were also cancelled.
Meanwhile, teams of NDRF deployed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are surveying, sensitizing people in low-lying areas with the help of district administration.
