New Delhi: Even though Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is behind bars in the 2002 rape case, his advocate is now booked for fraud and extortion. An FIR has been filed against 40-member gang under various sections of IPC in Panchkula Police Station.
The gang included Ram Rahim’s lawyers and supporters who were previously booked for violence in Panchkula after the conviction of controversial self-styled godman. The complainant stated that Ram Rahim was instrumental in all such extortion case but police did not take action against him.
The case is related to a
12.6 acres of land for which Ram Rahim’s men allegedly blackmailed the builder and extorted Rs 40 lakh and a flat from the builder. The flat was registered in the name of Dera Sacha Sauda.
Ram Rahim’s men also threatened the industrialist for money and asked him to pay for land which has value of Rs 80 crore.
On February 1, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a chargesheet against Ram Rahim and two doctors for allegedly forcibly castrating 400 followers of the sect. They allegedly castrated the men at the Sirsa-based dera, officials said.
