The flood situation in Bihar is worsening by the day as an embankment breached in Gopalkanj because of which 14,500 people had to be evacuated by the NDRF on Wednesday.
The death due to the Bihar floods has now climbed to 72.
'Embankment breach in Gopalkanj, water has entered Barauli. We have evacuated 14,500 ppl, including 13 pregnant ladies,' Vijay Sinha, Commandant of NDRF's 9th batallion, told news agency ANI.
'23 teams already working,4 more teams will join in soon and will be stationed in Motihari, Bettiah, Khagaria, Gopalganj,' he



added.
Terming the Bihar flood crisis as the 'worst in almost three decades', Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday took up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who assured him that the Centre was providing all possible help to the eastern state.
On Monday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and discussed with him the flood situation in the state where nearly 320 NDRF personnel have been rushed. During the telephonic conversation, Kumar briefed Singh about the latest situation in the state.
