Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday said ranking and accreditation is the main feature of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and all educational institutions have to come under this regime.
Mr Pradhan was addressing a function at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi after the release of India Rankings (NIRF) 2024 for institutes of higher education.
The Union Minister said there are more than 58 thousand educational institutes in the country and 6500 have come under the NIRF regime. He exhorted all private and public institutions to join and apply for the ranking of the new regime which
promotes competitiveness.
Mr. Pradhan asserted that it is a matter of concern that skill is being treated as a secondary subject and it lives in sorts of untouchability in the educational arena.
The Education minister further added that there will be a bigger role of the education field in pushing the country to a 30 to 50 trillion dollar size economy in the next 25 years from the present size of the three trillion dollar economy. He appealed to all the institutions to become transparently accredited, technology-driven, accessible and affordable.
