District Collector Yogita Rana and DWMA Project Director Venkateshwarlu jointly received an award from Union Rural Development Minister Choudhary Birender Singh at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday for their efforts in the successful implementation of the ‘Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme’ (MGNREGS) in the district.
The Nizamabad district stood first at the national level in the successful implementation. The
District Water Management Agency (DWMA) successfully runs the MGNREGS Works and provides works worth Rs 216 crore in Nizamabad district and 85% of families belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes were receiving jobs through this scheme.
On the occasion District Collector Rana made an appeal to the Union Government to increase the NREGS works up to 200 days from the present 100 days in these drought prone conditions.
