DMK to celebrate Murasoli newspaper's platinum jubilee event to show strength

DMK's mouthpiece Murasoli newspaper's platinum jubilee will be celebrated in a grand manner in Chennai on Thursday and Friday. The high point of this meeting is the expected participation of superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

Rajinikanth's name has not been mentioned in the invite list as he had not given his acceptance till last minute. Sources say this could also be because Rajinikanth is contemplating to enter politics. And in his last meeting with fans, he had hinted that he would not let politicians to misuse his image. He had indirectly hinted about the support he gave to DMK in 1996. So now with BJP trying to pull Rajini to their side, and the star wanting an image of his own without political affiliation, sources say that he was hesitant to include his name in the list. However, for courtesy, he will be attending the event.

Kamal, on the other hand, had been lashing out at the AIADMK government and had even got support of the DMK working president MK Stalin. He still has not made



his political aspirations clear. But, sources say since he is one of the speakers, he is likely to make some interesting points. This apart, this will also be a way for DMK to show that mass heroes still respect the Dravidian party which had seen a downfall after 2G scam. The celebrations coming at the time of AIADMK's split is seen as a show of strength and unity for DMK.

The day starts with inauguration of an exhibition tracing the journey of the newspapers at its premises in the morning. Later at 5pm, Kamal Haasan and various other eminent journalists will speak about Murasoli.

The event is happening at Kalaivanar Arangam. Interestingly, MK Stalin's son actor Udhayanidhi Stalin will be giving vote of thanks which is seen as his first step into probable entry into politics.

Murasoli is the brainchild of Karunanidhi who will unfortunately not be able to participate due to his ill health. It was launched on 10th August 1942 to spread information about the Dravidian movement.
