Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday urged the Centre to allow the Aam Aadmi Party's doorstep ration delivery scheme in the national capital. Addressing the media here, Kejriwal said that the doorstep ration delivery scheme will not have any name and that the city government will not take any credit for it.
This comes a day after the Centre red-flagged the 'Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna' scheduled to start from March 25.
Announcing the decision to make changes in scheme's name, Arvind Kejriwal said, "We did not bring this scheme to take any credit, all the credit should be with them and all the work and responsibilities should be with us."
Centre on Friday asked Delhi government not to implement the doorstep ration delivery scheme, saying it is "not permissible" to use subsidised foodgrain allotted under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) for the ambitious project.
As per the
Delhi government, Centre had an "objection" with the word 'Mukhya Mantri' [chief minister].
Delhi CM Kejriwal chief minister claimed a letter from the Centre on Friday noon informed that the doorstep delivery of ration scheme cannot be named as the Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the chief minister announced, "By removing the word chief minister, we have accepted all the objections of the Centre and now it [the scheme] should be allowed to be implemented".
"We will accept all the conditions of the Centre but not allow any obstruction in implementation of the scheme," Kejriwal asserted in the press conference.
"Perhaps they had objection over Mukhya Mantri word. We are not doing this to take credit or promote our names. So now the scheme will have no name. There will be a cabinet meeting on Monday and its proposal will be sent to the Centre," quoted Kejriwal.
