Dr Mishra underscored the urgent need for effective strategies to address risks associated with glacial lakes. The Principal Secretary also reiterated Prime
Minister Modi’s emphasis on ‘responding to not just disasters but building resilience measures’ and the importance of collaboration in addressing challenges like GLOF risks.
Dr Mishra highlighted India’s engagement with international GLOF experts and said that such collaboration is vital to enhancing the nation’s understanding of response strategies. Dr Mishra also highlighted mitigating risks associated with glacial lakes and to ensure a safer future for communities.
