The Madras high Court transferred the probe into the alleged suicide of Tiruchengode Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishnu Priya in Tamil Nadu to the CBI. The police official investigating a reported honour killing was found dead in her official residence on September 18 last year.
The CB CID police termed it as a case of suicide and her father Ravi blamed the higher officials of subjecting her to undue pressure. He also raised
doubts about her death and approached the court seeking a CBI probe. However, Justice Subbiah turned down his plea.
Mr Ravi went on an appeal and the bench comprising Justices Guluvadi Ramesh and MV Muralidharan after hearing the case gave its verdict today, directing the CB CID to hand over the case documents to the CBI. They also asked the apex investigating body to complete its inquiry within three months.
