The festival of Vijayadashmi or Dussehra is being celebrated throughout the country today. The day is celebrated to remember Lord Ram's victory over Ravana, to mark the triumph of good over evil. The day also marks the end of Navratri and Durga Puja.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted peoples on the occasion. In a message, Mr Kovind said the festival is an expression of the shared values and culture of this great nation.
He said, it reminds the people of the human and social values related to the life of Lord Rama. President said, the ideal character of Lord Rama teaches the lessons of
dedication to duty, morality and social service to the people. He said, the festival signifies the victory of good over evil and the power of ethical and moral values.
In his message, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said the festival reminds people of the victory of good over evil and reaffirms their faith in the noble and virtuous life of Lord Rama.
He said the celebrations of this festival play an important role in promoting amity and camaraderie amongst the people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi.
