New Delhi: The festival of Vijayadashmi or Dussehra is being celebrated across the country today. The festival is celebrated to remember Lord Ram's victory over Ravana, marking the triumph of good over evil. The day also marks the culmination of Navratri and Durga Puja.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted people on the occasion. In his message, President Kovind said, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil. He said, persona of Lord Rama and his righteous conduct as Maryada-Purushottam is an
ideal for all. He expressed hope that the festival strengthens the moral foundation of the society and inspires all the citizens to work for nation-building.
The Vice President, in his message said, Dussehra is an occasion to remind everyone of the need to constantly quell the demonic forces and foster goodness and harmony. He hoped that the festival brings peace, harmony and prosperity in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the special occasion of Vijaya Dashami.
