New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh on Monday. Writing on Twitter after the meeting, EAM Dr. S Jaishankar said that the warmth and frequency of the leadership level contact between the two countries is a testimony to our close neighbourly partnership. This was the first official engagement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Delhi during her state visit that started on Monday, September 5.

Earlier in the day after her arrival, Prime Minister Hasina offered prayers at the shrine of Sufi Saint Nizamuddin Aulia in Delhi. Sheikh Hasina will also offer prayers at Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Dargah at Ajmer on the last day of her visit to India, reports the official news agency of Bangladesh

Prime Minister Hasina was received at the Palam Airforce Station by Minister of State for Railways Darshana Vikram Zardosh on her arrival around the noon time on Monday. High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Md. Imran were also present on the occasion to receive Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Rajghat to lay a wreath on the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.  She will be holding bilateral discussion at the summit level with Prime Minister Narendra Modi  followed by signing of MoUs and agreements. Prime Minister Hasina is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday.
