Election Commission on Tuesday announced by-election to six assembly constituencies spread over three states. 

These are Panaji in Goa, Kundgol in Karanataka and Sulur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram and Ottapidaram in Tamil Nadu. 

Notification for the polls will be issued on 22nd of this month and candidates can file nominations till 29 April. Polling will be held on 19 May and counting will take place on 23 May. 

Panaji seat fell vacant due to death of former Goa Chief



Minister Manohar Parrikar. 

Sulur and Tirupparankundram seat fell vacant after the death of sitting AIADMK MLAs R Kanagaraj and A K Bose. 

By-election was necessitated in Kundgol seat in Karnataka due to death of MLA and Minister CS Shivalli. 

The Ottapidaram constituency is represented by disqualified AIADMK MLA Sundararaj, while Aravakurichi is represented by Senthil Balaji, an AIADMK legislator who is now with the DMK.
