The Election Commission of India has appointed 4 special observers for the ensuing Election to the Puducherry Legislative Assembly 2021. The Puducherry Chief Electoral Officer Shurbir Singh informed that the ECI appointed Manjeet Singh as special General Observer. Madhu Mahajan , B.R.Bala Krishnan are appointed as the Special Expenditure Observers and Dharmendra Kumar appointed as the Special Police Observer.
 
It may be noted that already the Election Commission of India has appointed 10 expenditure observers, 10 General Observers and 4 police observers to conduct free and fair General Election to Puducherry Legislative Assembly 2021. 

Meanwhile the Election department here cautioned



government employees showing reluctance in taking election duty, that stringent action would be initiated against them. Deputy District Election Officer Sakthivel in a release said that as many as 5759 polling personnel were selected and were given training but some of the officers are hesitant to accept the election duty.
 
He said the applications received from such officers will be forwarded to a separate medical Board constituted by the health department and anyone found not fit to do election duty will be recommended for voluntary retirement from service. Disciplinary action will be initiated against those found fit and even then, requested for exemption from election duty, he added.
