In Uttar Pradesh, the nomination of Samajwadi Party’s candidate from Varanasi,Tej Bahadur Yadav had been cancelled yesterday.
With this he stands disqualified from contesting the election. District election officer of Varanasi, Surendra Singh told that Tej Bahadur is disqualified because he is currently dismissed by BSF.
He said that as per rule all those who are dismissed should provide a certificate during nomination that their dismissal is not due to disloyalty to the state or on corruption charges and Tej Bahadur failed to provide that.
When he filed his
nomination as independent candidate, Yadav had admitted that he was dismissed from service. However, later, he reportedly omitted this from his nomination form. The Election Commission ordered the former soldier to produce a no-objection certificate. He was asked to file his response by 11 am.
Former Border Security Force personal Tej Bahadur had filed nomination as an independent, but was later named by the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance as a candidate from the seat where senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking re-election.
