Election Commission has given the two warring factions of AIADMK time till June 16 to produce additional affidavits in support of their claim for the 'Double Leaves' symbol. O.Panneerselvam.In the meanwhile, merger talks were initiated by both the factions at a time when the schedule for the local body elections is going to be announced.

At this juncture, the two camps approached the EC to extend the time for producing additional documents. Accepting their demand, the EC has set the new deadline as June 16. Merger moves are going on with both the factions forming their panels to hold talks on their unification.
