Election Commission on Monday issued a notice to BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh for alleged communal remarks during his poll campaign in Bihar's Begusarai constituency.

In its notice, the Commission has termed his comments as violative of model code of conduct and Representation of the People Act and asked him to submit his

reply within 24 hours.

At an election meeting on April 24, Mr Singh had made comments reportedly targeting a particular religion.

An FIR has also been lodged against the Minister, who is fighting Lok Sabha polls from Begusarai Lok Sabha seat.
