The Election Commission has issued show cause notice to the Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo for violation of Model Code of Conduct. Giving this information in Kolkata this evening, the State Additional Chief Electoral officer Mr. Sanjoy Basu said that the Union Minister released a video recording of the party’s campaign song in electronic and social media without taking pre-approval from Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC). Mr. Supriyo has been asked to give his reply within 48
hours.
Meanwhile, the notification for second phase of Lok Sabha Elections in West Bengal has been issued yesterday. Elections will be held in three Parliamentary seats in this phase on 18th of next month. Four nominations have been filed for first phase of elections while two nominations have been submitted for second phase of polls so far. The first phase of election will be held in two Parliamentary seats in the state on 11th of April.
