The Election Commission has taken special measures to conduct the ensuing assembly election keeping in mind the covid situation. The Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal Ariz Aftab said that all the voters will be given gloves for one hand to be used during voting.
He was speaking today in the orientation workshop for PTCs of Prasar Bharti arranged by the regional news unit of all India radio Kolkata regarding the coverage of assembly elections in the state.
Mr Aftab said that this time ECI has restricted the number of voters in a polling station to 1000. Due to this more than 23 thousand new polling stations have been created in the state.

Reddy underlined the importance of the role of the correspondents to motivate voters to exercise their democratic rights, while maintaining covid protocol.
In his opening remarks, ADG Dr. Atul Kumar Tiwary stressed upon upholding the reputation of All India Radio and Doordarshan in broadcasting authentic, credible, and unbiased news. ADG PIB Jane Namchu is also present in the workshop.
The day-long workshop is being attended by the officers of various media units under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The purpose of the workshop is to highlight the role of the public service broadcaster for free and fair elections under the guidance of the Election Commission of India.
