A high level delegation of the Election Commission of India, led by Umesh Sinha, Secretary General, Election Commission visited Puducherry on Tuesday to assess the poll-preparedness for the upcoming Assembly election in 2021, in the Union Territory.
The team hold meeting with Chief Secretary Aswani Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer Shurbir Singh, District Election Officer, Puducherry - Purva Garg, District Election Officer, Karaikal - Arjun Sharma, DGP and officials from other line departments.
They had discussions with the representatives of the recognised political
parties.
Congress, NR Congress, ADMK, DMK, BJP, Communist and other party representatives participated in this discussion.
The Puducherry Election Department has made all arrangements for the discussions here.
It may be noted that assembly election is due in 2021 in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal.
The team comprises Deputy Election Commissioners Sudeep Jain, Ashisk Kundra, H.R.Srinivasa - Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, Pankaj Srivastava - Director and Malay Mallick, secretary, Election Commission.
