Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) OP Rawat has said that proceedings at 14,000 polling booths during assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh will be webcast. 

Talking to reporters in Bhopal yesterday, he said, the measure is being taken as part of efforts to ensure free and fair elections. 

Mr Rawat and two Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa were on a 2-day visit to Madhya Pradesh to review preparations for November 28 assembly polls.

Election Commissioner said some political parties suggested that recounting should be conducted by default if the victory margin is less than one thousand. 

They also demanded installation of CCTV cameras at all polling booths so that persons who vote for more than once can be identified, the CEC said. Mr Rawat said, for the first time in Madhya Pradesh, Election Commission will appoint accessibility observers who will help differently-abled or Divyang persons at polling booths.
