The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appealed to all eligible citizens to enroll and correct their details in the electoral rolls as the Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2024 will continue till the 9th of next month. In a post on the social media platform X, ECI said that under SSR 2024 citizens can enroll or correct their Voter ID details, including updates of addresses in the Voters List.
This revision of the electoral rolls, SSR 2024, is important considering the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Its objective is to prepare error-free electoral rolls with a special focus on the inclusion of the youth.
Youngsters who will complete 18 years by 1st January 2024 can apply to enroll themselves in the
electoral rolls. This is an opportunity for young voters attaining 18 years of age to enroll themselves before the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
Disposal of claims and objections will be done by the commission by the 26th of next month, while the final publication of electoral rolls will be on the 5th of January next year. In Nagaland, the publication of electoral rolls will be done on 10 January next year.
The Election Commission of India conducts Summary Revision every quarter of the year on 1st January, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October, to enroll the eligible citizens every year. The SSR 2024 started on the 27th of the last month.
