The Election Commission has taken a tough stand against post-poll violence in Andhra Pradesh. The Commission has directed the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh to take strict action against culprits. It has also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to retain 25 Central Armed Police Forces companies in Andhra Pradesh after counting.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu conveyed their displeasure over the post poll violence in Andhra Pradesh during a meeting with Chief Secretary and DGP of Andhra



Pradesh in New Delhi today. The Commission directed Chief Secretary and DGP to ensure that such violence is not repeated and all Superintendent of Police to be tasked to take pre-emptive measures to avoid such a situation in future. 

The Commission had summoned the Chief Secretary and DGP of Andhra Pradesh to New Delhi to personally explain reasons for failure of administration to contain post poll violence. Several incidents of violence were reported in Ananthapuramu, Palnadu and Tirupati districts on the poll-day and post poll day.
