Ahead of much awaited Assembly polls in Jammu & Kashmir, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the J&K administration to shift officials who are serving in their native districts or those who have completed three years in a particular district during the last four years.

The poll body has directed the Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer that no officer connected directly with elections shall be allowed to continue in the home

district or have completed three years in that district during last four years.

The Commission has directed that the transfer or posting of all officers covered under these instructions shall be done and compliance reports be sent to it by the 20th of next month.

The Supreme Court had directed the poll body on December 11 last year to conduct Assembly Polls by end of September this year.
