An Election Commission of India (ECI) team led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will be on a two-day visit to Ranchi beginning today to review preparations for upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. The team, also comprising Election Commissioners – Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, will meet representatives of political parties in Ranchi today.
The ECI team will meet representatives of six national parties including BJP, Congress and CPI(M) and three regional parties – JMM, RJD and AJSU. After the meeting with political
parties, the Election Commission team will hold meeting with officers of Enforcement agencies.
Later in the day, the EC team will meet Chief Electoral Officer, State Police Nodal Officer and Central Forces Coordinator to review the preparations.
Tomorrow, the ECI team will review the preparations with District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police from all 24 districts, the Chief Secretary and DGP.
Assembly elections in Jharkhand is due later this year.
