Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached seven immovable properties worth 1.48 crore rupees during the investigation against Mukhtar Ansari and his aides under Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002. The investigation was initiated by ED on the basis of multiple FIRs lodged by Uttar Pradesh Police.
Enforcement Directorate has said, two FIRs were lodged against Vikas Constructions by Uttar Pradesh Police for constructing godowns on government or public land after encroaching it. The godowns were constructed in Mau and Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. The firm Vikas
Construction was being run by wife of Mukhtar Ansari and her two brothers.
UP Police had filed a charge sheet in one of the FIRs registered at Mau in which all the partners of the firm Vikas construction have been made accused. During the investigation, it was revealed that rent to the tune of 15 crore rupees was collected by Vikas Construction from Food Corporation of India by renting out the godowns illegally constructed by encroaching government land at Mau and Ghazipur. This rent was further used to purchase immovable properties.
