Election Commission ordered the removal of West Bengal Director-General of Police, Virendra yesterday. It has appointed P Nirajnayan as  DG and IGP in his place with immediate effect.

In its order, the poll body also directed state Chief Secretary  not to give any post to Mr. Virendra that directly or indirectly relates to the conduct of election.

said the decision has been taken after reviewing the poll preparedness in the state. The Commission has also asked for a  compliance report to be submitted by 10 AM today.

In an another order, the poll panel has directed to transfer IRS officer, K G Arunraj from Tamil Nadu and attach him with the CBDT Headquarters immediately.
