Elephant dies due to electrocution in Tamil Nadu

In a tragic incident, an elephant died after being electrocuted by an illegal electric fence in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district, said forest officials.

The incident happened on Sunday on a farm in Rajapalayam where the owner identified as Gopalamoorthy had installed



an electric fence to prevent wild boars from entering the farm, said forest officials.

A six-year-old male elephant wandered into the farm in search of food and came into contact with the electric fence. He died immediately due to electrocution, added forest officials.
