In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a group of 20 foreign envoys from Europe and Africa will be on a two days visit to the Union Territory from today.
The diplomats from foreign missions will visit Kashmir today and Jammu on February 18, and this will be the first visit by the foreign diplomats to J&K since the outbreak of Covid-19 Pandemic, and third visit since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019.
The group of envoys and senior diplomats are expected to visit Hazratbal
Shrine, Dal Lake and a college in Badgam on the outskirts of Srinagar. The visit, will also focus on the progress made on the ground in the aftermath of the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 and how grassroots democracy has taken root in the UT after the recent DDC elections.
This is the 3rd such visit of foreign envoys to the Union Territory in the recent past as a group of envoys visited the UT in January, and another group in February 2020.
