Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today asserted that farmers of two Telugu States should develop through proper plans for ample use of river waters by constructing projects with design changes. At camp office here on Thursday, KCR held a high level review meeting on Kaleshwaram, Palamur, Dindi and Sitarama Sagar projects and asked the officials to expedite the works of land acquisition, construction activity to meet the goals of the government.
With all the projects the Telangana could tap 1000 tmc waters out of 4500 tmc going waste into sea through Krishna and Godavari rivers the AP Government downstream can get the rest of 3500 tmc waters for irrigation he advised. Farmers of AP should also develop and flourish by drawing adequate waters from the rivers he felt. He alleged that his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu was rejected by people for harassing them with regard to free power to the
farm sector.
KCR directed the officials to submit a detailed project report (DPR) of Sitarama Project, construct a barrage near Dummugudem to irrigate Khammam district. This will help produce 320 mw power, impound 22 tmc water at 31 km stretch in the river. Waters can be lifted from another barrage to be built near it avoiding submergence and can use waters for Khammam though the Krishna river goes dry he felt.
After a power point presentation by Larsen and Toubro company with a plan to complete Medigadda works in a year, KCR asked to expedite the works Kaleshwaram project. He said that the TRS Government is spending Rs 4000 crore to offer free power to agriculture sector and allotting Rs 25000 crore to irrigation every year. KCR asked the finance secretary Ramakrishna Rao wing officials to give Rs 2100 crore irrigation department every month to complete the projects on a war-footing.
