The festival of Maha Ashtami is being celebrated with full devotion in Punjab today. Hawan Yagnas are being performed in various temples and people are worshipping little girls Kanjakas at their homes.

Today, on the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri, the festival of Maha Ashtami is being celebrated with full devotion. Many people keep fast on Navratri and break this fast by worshiping little girls.



Therefore, these little girls, means Kanjakas, considered to be the form of Goddess Durga, are being worshipped. Apart from halwa, puri and gram, many types of gifts are also being given to them as Prasad. These Kanjakas are very happy after receiving this.

On this occasion devotees have thronged the temples since early morning in various cities of Punjab.
