Today is Navroz, the Parsi New Year. It is the most widely celebrated festival of the Parsi community. This is seen as a harbinger of peace and prosperity. According to Parsi priests, the arrival of the New Year mainly depends on their Lunar calendar and that with every New Year, there is a recreation of the universe.
President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted all fellow citizens on the occasion of Navroz. In his message, Mr Kovind said, the contribution of the Parsi community in social and national life is incomparable and their way of life, work style and unwavering devotion towards the preservation of their culture evokes a feeling of appreciation among the countrymen. He added that this annual festival celebrated is an occasion of joy and enthusiasm for them and for all of us. The President wished that this festival of Parsi New Year will bring unity, prosperity and happiness in everyone’s life and further strengthen the spirit of mutual
harmony and fraternity among the citizens.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has also greeted the people on the occasion of Navroz. In his message, he said, Navroz symbolizes the spirit of fraternity, compassion and respect for all. Mr Naidu said, the Parsi community made vital contributions to the all-round development of the country. He said, Navroz is an occasion for friends and family to come together in the celebration of kinship, brotherhood and unity. Vice President appealed to everyone to celebrate Navroz by taking utmost precautions and adhering to Covid safety norms.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Navroz. In a tweet, Mr. Modi prayed for a year filled with happiness, prosperity and good health. He said that India cherishes the outstanding contributions of the Parsi community across different sectors.
