Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju has clarified that the figures of maximum temperature breaching 50 degrees Celsius reported by two weather stations in Nagpur on Thursday are incorrect. In a social media post, Mr. Rijiju said that yesterday, the Nagpur City’s automatic weather station reported a maximum temperature of 54.4 degrees Celsius, and one more station in the city reported 52.2 degrees Celsius. He added that
these values are incorrect due to the failure of an electronic sensor, as confirmed by IMD, Pune.
The Minister said, the observations from other automatic weather stations and IMD observatory stations in Nagpur reported a maximum temperature in the range of 44-45 degrees Celsius. He added that corrective action is being taken by the IMD.
