Filing of nominations for assembly elections in Uttarakhand ends today and 412 candidates have filed their nominations for 70 member Assembly so far. The state will go to polls in single phase on 15th February. 
The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 1st February after which electioneering will gain momentum.Prominent leaders of state Bhartiya Janta Party and congress have already filed their nominations for the ensuing assembly election. However, Chief Minister Harish Rawat will file his second nomination from Haridwar rural constituency today. This is for the first time when any sitting Chief Minister of the state is contesting from two seats. 
In view of heavy rush for nominations on the last day today, the security arrangements have



been beefed up at sensitive places across the state.​Filing of nomination for the second phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will also end today. 67 seats will go to polls in this phase on 15th of February. 
The scrutiny of papers will be held on 30th January while candidates can withdraw their names till February 1st. 
Being a national holiday there was no nomination filed yesterday on 26th January. Till​ 25h January a total of 404 candidates had filed their nomination. The polling for this phase ​would be held on February 15.​There are a total of ​two crore twenty eight lakh voters comprising 1.23-crore male, 1.04-crore female and 1,068 from the third gender who may cast their votes on 23,693 polling booths.
