In Tamil Nadu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday visited Tuticorin District to assess the aftermath of the severe flooding triggered by unprecedented heavy rains last week. At the Collectorate, she conducted a comprehensive review meeting with the District Administration regarding flood, rescue and relief activities. During the meeting Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan, State Minister Thangam Thennarasu, and DMK MP Kanimozhi were also
present.
After that, she inspected the special medical camp set up for the public to prevent diseases aftermath of floods.
The Finance Minister also reviewed the flood relief operations undertaken by the District administration. She also visited the Korampallam pond where the biggest breach occurred as it damaged the road between Tuticorin- Tirunelveli.
