Five and a half crore trees will be planted in Madhya Pradesh under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign will be inaugurated today by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
“The Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign in Madhya Pradesh is being started from the birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Within this fortnight, a target has been set to plant 20 lakh saplings in 480 hectares of area in Bhopal district alone.12 lakh saplings are being planted at various places in Bhopal district today. MPs, MLAs and public representatives have been invited by Bhopal Municipal Corporation to plant
saplings at 300 places.
There is a plan to plant 51 lakh saplings in Indore, the industrial capital of the state and the cleanest city of the country. The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign is being run on a war footing manner in all the cities and villages of the state till July 15.
It is noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh had set a record of planting the maximum number of saplings in a day in the country during the tenure of the BJP government in 2017. During that time, more than 6 crore saplings were planted in 12 hours across the state.
