Shillong: In Meghalaya, the five day-long unique event International Indigenous Terra Madre- 2015, which brings over a 100 tribes from 58 countries, will start in Shillong today. The event is the result of a collaboration between Slow Food, the Indigenous Partnership for Agro biodiversity and Food Sovereignty and the North East Slow Food and Agro Biodiversity Society, NESFAS. International representatives from 14 African countries, 17 Asian countries, 8
European countries, 12 American countries and 7 Oceanian countries will take part in the event.
The five-day fiesta that has not been seen, cradled through centuries and passed on from generation to generation will see these timeless flavours shared with and experimented with star chefs from all over the world. Slow Food is an international movement, promoted as an alternative to fast food and strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine.
