Flood alert has been issued in five districts of Tamil Nadu along the banks of South Pennai river as more water is being released from Krishnagiri Dam. Heavy rain in catchment areas in Karnataka has led to increased inflow into the dam.
The Flood alert has been issued to people living near Thenn Pennai river banks in five districts of Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore and Tiruvannamalai. Heavy rain has led to Krishnagiri Dam reaching its full capacity of
52 feet. More than 5300 cusecs of water is being released from the dam into Then Pennai river leading to flood alerts.
Heavy rain in Hosur and catchment areas has led to Kelavarapally dam reaching its full capacity of 44 feet. As 4300 cusecs of water is released from the dam Krishnagiri dam level also reached its brim. The district administration has issued flood warning to those living near the dam and Then Pennai river.
