A flood has been issued along the banks of Cauvery in six districts of Tamil Nadu with Karnataka releasing more than one lakh cusecs of water into the inter-state river in the wake of heavy rain there.

Central Water Commission has said that the combined discharge of water of more than one lakh cusecs from Kabani and KRS dams in Karnataka is expected to reach



Mettur Dam in Salem district of Tamil Nadu today.

Official sources said in Chennai that Collectors of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Tiruchirapalli and Thanjavur districts have issued flood s asking people living along the banks of Cauvery river, particularly those in low-lying areas, to move to safer places.
