Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Kerala Governor P Sathasivam that the flood-ravaged state will get more central funds from National Disaster Response Fund as per laid down procedure. Prime Minister informed the Governor that 600 crore rupees released by the Centre to the state are only the advance assistance to brief about the hardships suffered by Keralites in the recent floods. 

According to a Raj Bhawan release, Mr Modi told Governor that this amount is in addition to the 562.45 crore rupees already made available in the State Disaster Response Fund of the state. Prime Minister highlighted the fact when Mr Sathasivam met him in New Delhi that normal rules and procedures have been set aside in view of the emergency nature of requirement in Kerala. 

Besides this financial support, the Centre has provided large quantities of emergency food, water, medicines and other essential supplies, including foodgrains as required by the state. In his Mann Ki Baat programme on AIR, Prime Minister reassured people of Kerala and



other flood-affected regions that the entire country stands with them at this moment of calamity. 

Mr Modi said, he firmly believes that the sheer grit and courage of the people of Kerala will see the state rise again. Prime Minister said everyone, is trying to ensure speedy mitigation of the sufferings of the people in the state.

Commending the work of the armed forces in rescue and relief operations, Mr Modi said, they have left no stone unturned to save people in the floods. Prime Minister said, Air Force, Navy, Army, BSF, CISF, RAF and every agency played an exemplary role in the operations. He also mentioned the NDRF daredevils and said their service stands out as a shining example.  
    
Kerala Governor also met and apprised Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the law and order situation and the pace of the relief measures in Kerala. Mr Singh also assured the release of additional funds on completion of the assessment of damages as per set procedure.
