In Bihar, flood situation has further deteriorated following a breach of ring Bandh of Punpun river at two places. Punpun is flowing three-metre above the danger mark and the water level is still rising. Similarly, river Ganga and Sone are maintaining a rising trend all along with its courses. Surging water of these rivers has engulfed new areas.

Over 20 lakh people are reeling under the impact of flood in 15 districts including Katihar, Begusarai, Khagaria and Bhagalpur.  Over three lakh people have been affected in Patna due to worst ever



waterlogging. About fifty thousand people have been rescued so far.

Chief Ministers Nitish Kumar visited affected areas and said, the state government is trying it's best to provide assistance to affected people. Helicopters are carrying out relief and rescue operations.

Over one thousand boats and 24 NDRF teams have been pressed into service in different parts of the state for relief works. 19 relief camps have been set up and 226 community kitchens are providing food to the people.
