In Assam, over 13 thousand people are affected due to flood and landslides in Kamrup Metro, Darrang, Lakhimpur and Hailakandi districts. State Disaster Response Force evacuated 500 people in Guwahati city. Four persons have died in rain related incidents in Guwahati.
District administration has set up one relief camp at Rajgarh in Guwahati for 130 people and relief materials are also being distributed.Landslides have also been reported in Guwahati. There was also breach of river embankments in a few places in the state.
In Mizoram, search is on for bodies of three missing in flash flood in Lunglei District. No fresh casualties reported across the state.Temporary shelters are being arranged for families affected by the flood. Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said, the government will extend full cooperation to relief effort and that a High Level Committee is set up to
monitor the work.
Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Wednesday told media persons that High Level Comtt. chaired by Home Minister R Lalzirliana is set up to look into the damages.
He announced Rs. 4 lakh for the deceased and said compensatory payments will be made according to severity of damage.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh along with state Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Letpao Haokip visited flood-affected areas of the state and took stock of the situation.
A portion of the Imphal River breached its bank day before yesterday at Kairang in Imphal East and Nambul River overflowed at at Sagolband area in Imphal West.Water levels of the major rivers passing through Imphal - Imphal River, Irilbung River and Nambul River have started receding gradually from on Wednesday.
