Flood situation in Bihar and Assam continues to be grim and alarming. In Bihar, over 96 lakh people across 14 districts are reeling under the impact of flood. The state government has pressed into service 50 rescue teams comprising columns of Army, NDRF, SDRF in the affected districts.
The teams
include over two thousand trained personnel and over three hundred boats for evacuation to the nearest relief centres. Casualities due to flood related incidents has risen to 106. Breaching of river embankments in Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, East and West Champaran has further aggravated the flood situation.
