Flood situation remains grim in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan, after stopping first spell of monsoon rain, rescue and relief operations have been expedited in flooded districts including Sirohi, Jalore, Pali and Barmer. Thousands of people still living in shelters in flooded areas. 

NDRF, Army and other teams are engaged in rescue works and restoring bridges and roads that have been damaged by the showers. Rajasthan received 48.2 per cent more rainfall compared to last year till this period. In Barmer district,



at least 60 villages are cut off from other areas following overflow Luni river in the district. 

District collector said that over 2000 people have been rescued and sent to safer places. He told that relief camps have been set up at four places. Even there are many people who are stranded in flood hit areas and NDRF and local administration are trying to rescue them. The Collector said all cattle in the affected areas were also rescued.
