Ranchi: A special CBI court in Ranchi yesterday sentenced Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad for five years' imprisonment in the case of illegal withdrawal of over 139 crore rupees from Doranda treasury in the final and last case related to the fodder scam. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs.60 lakh on Mr. Prasad.
Apart from this, other culprits related to this case were also sentenced. The maximum punishment awarded in this case is for five years and the maximum fine imposed is 2 crore rupees. Apart from Lalu Prasad, maximum punishment
has been given to Mohammad Sayeed, RK Rana, and Tripurari Mohan Prasad among the list of 38 convicted people. On the other hand, Tripurari Mohan Prasad has been fined a maximum of Rs 2 crore.
CBI Judge SK Shashi sentenced these convicts. Earlier, the lawyers of Lalu Prasad and the Central Bureau of Investigation presented their arguments. Meanwhile, Mr. Prasad's advocate Prabhat Kumar told that he will file an appeal in the High Court against the decision of the CBI court this week itself.
