A team of forensic experts inspected various sites in Delhi in connection with the Republic Day violence on Sunday. Accompanied by the Delhi Police crime branch, the six-member team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gujarat's Gandhinagar visited ITO, Red Fort, Ghazipur and Nangloi.

All six members of the team, including a female officer, examined the spots at ITO where protesting farmers engaged in violent clashes with Delhi Police. The FSL team, which specialises in analysing video footage, then made its way to a spot opposite Andhra Education Society on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg where a farmer died

after his speeding tractor overturned during the Republic Day 'Tractor Parade'.

Following the inspection at ITO, the forensic experts reached Red Fort. The iconic monument was closed for the public until January 31 by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) in a bid to assess the damage caused to it during the violence.

On January 26, hundreds of farmers deviated from the pre-determined route of their Republic Day 'Tractor Parade' and clashed with police personnel at ITO before storming the Red Fort. Nearly 40 FIRs have been lodged and more than 80 people arrested in connection with the January 26 violence.
