Former Assam chief minister and senior Congress leader Dr Bhumidhar Barman passed away on Sunday evening at a private hospital in Assam’s Guwahati.

The 91-year-old veteran Congress leader was admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati on March 13 due to old-age ailments. He had been on ventilation in the hospital ICU for the past several



days.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed condolences on the death of the veteran Congress leader.

The chief minister said “Saddened to learn about the demise of former Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Bhumidhar Barman. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family members and well-wishers. Om shanti.”
