The seized belongings in the disproportionate assets case of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa have been officially handed over to the state government. The transfer, carried out following a court order, marks a significant development in the decades-long legal battle.
The seized assets, which had been in the custody of Karnataka authorities, included 27 kg 558 grams of gold jewellery, 1,116 kg of silver, and documents related to 1,526 acres of land. These valuables were stored in the Karnataka Vidhana Soudha treasury and were
formally transferred in the presence of court and government officials.
A Joint Secretary from the Tamil Nadu Home Department was present at the court to receive the assets. Treasury officials handed them over under strict security, with Tamil Nadu authorities recording the entire process on video as part of the documentation procedure.
The 34th CCH Court, which facilitated the transfer, conducted the proceedings in-camera. The valuables were handed over to Tamil Nadu officials after following due legal procedures.
