Former Gujarat governor and veteran BJP leader from Delhi O P Kohli passed away on Monday. Kohli, a former president of the party's Delhi unit, was unwell for the past two to three months and he passed away at a hospital in Noida, according to a statement released by Delhi BJP. He was 87 years old. The saffron party said that his last rites will be performed at the Nigam Bodh Ghat on
Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Kohli and said he played a key role in strengthening the party in the national capital. "Modi tweeted, "Saddened by the passing away of Shri OP Kohli Ji. He played a key role in strengthening our Party in Delhi. As MP and Governor, he focused on issues of public welfare. He was also passionate about the education sector. My thoughts are with his family. Om Shanti," he tweeted.
