Former Railway Minister CK Jaffer Sharief passed away at a hospital in Bengaluru. He was 85. Sharief was admitted to the hospital a few days ago after he collapsed while getting into his car for Friday namaz. 

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dinesh Gundu Rao said, Mr Sharief was one of the senior most



leaders and an MP number of times.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief at the demise. In his condolence message, Mr Modi said, Mr Sharief enriched parliamentary proceedings as a veteran Parliamentarian and was an effective voice for Karnataka’s aspirations.
